What this project is about
- Adapting existing Wikidata data importing script(s): We will explore automated approaches (either by creating a new script or adapting an existing one) to import the Igbo API dataset to the Wikidata Lexicographical data project. Wikidata aims to provide metadata for words (or what they call items) in many languages thereby creating a knowledge base across languages.
- Deliverable: Enhancing the current process of importing and adding new lexemes into Wikidata via a publicly accessible API. As a proof of concept, 500 Igbo words will be imported into Wikidata Lexicographical data.

Questions about automatic processes to add igbo words/lexemes to Wikidata
- At the moment we have none at least from what I know but if it's something you're capable of developing, we're glad to support in anyway we can.
- there are templates on https://lexeme-forms.toolforge.org/ for nouns and adjectives which can make it easier to create lexemes (but you'll still need to add other information like senses afterwards)
- anything automated usually needs someone to write a script, bot or tool of some sort. And how those should work depends on where the data you want to add comes from, what information it contains and how it should be entered into wikidata.
- “@mahir256” there is a tool I wrote to help me with this at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/source/tool-twofivesixlex/ (it's not entirely perfect, but for uploading entirely new lexemes it should do the job)
