Introduction

Nkọwa okwu is an open-source led community with a commitment to creating accessible Igbo language learning materials and technology for the Igbo population around the world.

Nkọwa okwu LLC

Nkọwa okwu is official an LLC recognized in the state of California, United States. This enables the company to take on more risk without personal liability to individuals who are directly responsible for maintaining the company.

As an LLC, Nkọwa okwu reserves the rights to contract individuals or to apply for funding to pay individuals within the volunteer community.

Open-Source Work

All of our products are completely free to use by the general public. We are able to offer our services due to the following:

1. The community of volunteers contribute to these projects to either maintain or improve their existing, free-to-use features
2. Nkọwa okwu spends business funds to keep the lights on for many of the websites that its hosting

Incentives to Community Members

We truly value every individuals’ contributions to our community. That’s why we believe that not only Nkọwa okwu benefits from volunteers but also the volunteers benefit from Nkọwa okwu.

We encourage our community members to do the following to help establish themselves as industry experts:

• Talk publicly about the work they are completing on Twitter and Facebook
• Reach out to schools and student organizations to form public events
• Speak at tech conferences hosted in Nigeria
