1. Remember to remove the Nsibidi of an insufficient word whose Headword you changed entirely.
2. Avoid using commas to separate different words you are using to explain the Headword in the Descriptions box. Use a semicolon instead. Eg. Nri (Headword) something eaten; food; meal (Description). Not Nri (Headword) something eaten, food, meal (Description).
3. Use either He or She and not He/She together in the example sentences.
4. Avoid duplicating words.
5. A Down-step should not be allowed after a Low tone. Eg. gba m̀gbā should remain flagged until properly edited.4. Words are allowed to have consecutive Down-step tones as long as none of the dow-step tones is the first tone in the word. [Words in the API should be allowed to have consecutive down-step tones]. Eg. kpalakūkū and dim̄gbā in the API should not be flagged.
6. No word should be allowed to have a Mid Tone/Down-step as its FIRST tone. Eg. dēbà and dēhìè should remain flagged until properly.
7. Every vowel and vowel lookalike (M and N starting a consonant cluster) MUST bear a tone. According to the Dictionary Editing Standards, High Tones are not to be marked, so the only vowel/vowel lookalike that should not bear a tone is a high-toned vowel/vowel lookalike. [Words in the API should be allowed to have a down-step tone after an unmarked vowel/vowel lookalike]. Eg. kpalakūkū, èeyī, and ùbemgbā in the API should not be flagged.

Words in the dictionary should go by the following rules which are most agreeable and realistic among scholars and native speakers. The sentences in square brackets are the changes that should be applied to the API to remove the unwanted flags.
