Background
Lexicographers are backbone to this project. Your responsibility as a lexicographer is to not only expand the dataset but also ensure that it’s following a consistent standard that prevents non-uniform work and promotes commonality on how we contribute to this resource. The Dictionary Editing Standards is the central source-of-truth for best understanding how we edit words for this project.
Deliverables
- Become familiar with the Igbo API Editor Platform and its core functionality
- Words vs Word Suggestions and Examples vs Example Suggestions
- Contribute to expanding the dataset from 8,000 dialectal variations and 4,000 examples to 25,000 dialectal variations and 25,000 examples by:
- Following the list of textual resources to crosscheck words and their contextual meaning and spellings
- Listen to Igbo audio to crosscheck phonetic pronunciation
- Approving and merging word suggestions
- Work closely with project manager to express roadblocks, concerns, or general confusion around the Igbo API Editor Platform, assigned work, or the project in general
Required Skills
- Stable Internet connection to be able to join weekly meetings with software engineers, lexicographers, and project owners
- Ability to learn how to use the Igbo API Editor Platform after project training
- Create timelines to be able to execute deliverables on a timely basis
- Communication skills to be able to collaborate with our lexicographers and the project manager
