Background

Audio recorders bring life to the data that has been collected thus far. Your responsibility as an audio recorder is to not only record audio for the Igbo text data but to also ensure that it’s following a consistent standard that prevents non-uniform work and promotes commonality on how we contribute to this resource. The Dictionary Editing Standards and Recording Audio Standards are the central source-of-truth for the standard we follow for all our text and audio data.

Deliverables

Become familiar with the Igbo API Editor Platform and its core functionality
- Recording and Reviewing Audio
Record 10 hours of audio per month (approximately 4,000 to 5,000 sentences)
- The Igbo API Editor Platform will serve random Igbo text prompts that need audio attached to each of them
- Please refer to the Recording Audio Standards to ensure you are properly recording audio
Review recorded audio
- It’s important to not only record audio but also review so that everyone’s work can be verified and merged (which is the most important metric that determines if you get paid for your work)
Work closely with project manager to express roadblocks, concerns, or general confusion around the Igbo API Editor Platform, assigned work, or the project in general

Required Skills

Stable Internet connection to be able to join weekly meetings with software engineers, lexicographers, and project owners
Ability to learn how to use the Igbo API Editor Platform after project training
Ability to read and speak Igbo fluently
Create timelines to be able to execute deliverables on a timely basis
Communication skills to be able to collaborate with our lexicographers and the project manager
