Before you start making edits to our dictionary, please set aside around 30 minutes to read through our Dictionary Editing Standards doc that walks through how to make valid, acceptable and mergeable word documents.

Step 4: Start Your Task - Updating “insufficient" and Merging "sufficient" Words

Within the Words table on the Igbo API Editor Platform, walk through our words list to find words that are not-"complete" according to our Dictionary Editing Standards expectations

What is my main work within the Igbo API Editor Platform?

The main goal for a translator within this project, is to do the following:

1. Walk through all our “insufficient” words within the List View for our words and identify words that are not "complete"
   • Once you've identified that word, you want to **Suggest a new edit** for that word document - suggesting a new edit will create a new word suggestion document that initially includes all the original word document's information
   • Make necessary changes to transform the “insufficient" word into a "sufficient" word
   • Once you are done with your changes, Submit the form and approve the document. Depending on your User Permission Level:
     • If you have Editor permissions, then you can simply approve the word and move onto the next.
     • If you have **Merger** permissions then you can merge the word, and move onto the next.
2. Add a complete example sentences to word documents that three or less example sentences associated with them.
   • A complete example sentence will have the Igb and English translation along with an audio recording.

• Q: For adding accent marks to words, should I include nasals and aspirations?
• Q: What if a non-Standard Igbo dialectal word doesn't have a Standard Igbo equivalent?
